I have been intrigued by Zandra Rhodes since visiting her exhibition in London three years ago, she combines soft floaty fabrics with bold prints to create feminine yet eye catching designs that have influenced many other fashion designers. The timelessness of her designs inspire me to think about creating designs that have impact but will also not date too quickly. She has been at the forefront of British fashion design since the 1970's and continues to have a cult following whilst knowledgeably inspiring creative students in her academy.

There are really some beatiful and inspiring patterns there. I agree with you when you say we should strive to create timeless design, but I wonder, what would calssify as timeless design? Is it the choice of colours and fonts that have been used before and are well 'tested'? Is it creating memorable designs? Is it creating a design that will be in vouge (again) ten years later? I guess time will tell.
Indeed time will tell! In the case of Rhodes work it is her use of modern styles combined with feminine patterns that will always be appreciated, but it would be interesting to see how we could apply this approach to graphic design.
There are always daring patterns and designs that here are created in a very unique style, maybe looking at the initial sketches may help relate the images back to a more traditional graphic medium?
